Alan Souders — Law Group in St Anacortes, WA

Alan R. Souders Attorney and Professional Engineer

Alan began practicing law in Anacortes in 1997, following his career in the Navy's Civil Engineering Corps and receiving his law degree with honors from the University of Washington. Being an engineer and the son of a building contractor and inspector, he chose to practice in the areas of construction, contracts, property and business law. He began practicing estate planning, trust, and probate law after helping several family members and friends. Alan has a masters in electrical engineering and B.A. in sociology. He is licensed as a professional engineer in Washington and Colorado. During his Navy career he was in charge of the on-site construction of Naval Station Everett and served as the Public Works Officer at Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island. As an attorney, he is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Alan is experienced in litigation, mediation, and arbitration, and has represented clients in both Washington State and federal courts. He has served as arbitrator for various disputes including construction and business cases.

Alexis C. Oles, Attorney at Law

Alexis began practicing law in Florida in 2005 after graduating Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. She was a Senior Staff Member on Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. During her 12 years of practice, her main focus was on Insurance Defense and specifically litigation. She has worked in many areas of the law including medical malpractice defense, personal injury, nursing home, negligent security, premises liability, automobile and trucking claims, and first party property disputes. She has experience with mediation and trial and has practiced in both State and Federal Courts in Florida. She was an active member of the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association acting as Vice President for several years and volunteered at the local Humane Society. Her husband has spent approximately 17 years in the United States Navy. His Navy career has brought her to Anacortes and she is happy to be in this beautiful part of the Country. She has recently become a licensed attorney in Washington and has long term plans to remain here, locally.


Kathryn Souders is the business and case manager for the law firm, and provides paralegal support for litigation, construction, property, and environmental law. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii in 1985. She spent twenty years managing environmental programs for the Navy in the Pacific Northwest, first at NAS Whidbey and then as the Navy’s East Puget Sound Environmental Director. Experienced in project and business management, she has used various business methodologies and project management concepts such as AGILE and LEAN to help the legal team manage in a busy and dynamic environment.
Julia James joined the Souders Law Group in 2011 as our paralegal for probates, estate planning, property, business, and elder law, she also serves as a one of our Certified Notary Publics for the State of Washington. Her graduate studies in Linguistics from the University of Utah was an interdisciplinary program that develops skills in communication, computer science, data analysis and organization, problem solving, and logical thinking that are critical to the functioning of the Souders Law Group. Prior to joining Souders Law Group, Julia worked as an independent consultant on a variety of linguistic and organizational projects. Julia has a Bachelors of Art in Biology from Utah State University (USU), where she also worked for the environmental engineering lab as a chemist. Following her time with USU she worked as a chemist for a hazardous waste disposal company.
Erica Weaver joined the Souders Law Group in 2015 when she and her husband were assigned to the Naval base on Whidbey Island. She takes lead as our primary paralegal for litigation and oversees managing the client files, data, calendars and coordinating with the courts. Erica also serves as a Certified Notary Public for the State of Washington and has an Associates of Science in Paralegal Studies from Valencia Community College in Orlando. Graduating in 2006 she worked with several law firms in Central Florida and focused on litigation and other areas of civil practice.

Felicia Walls joined the Souders Law Group in 2016 as an Administrative Assistant. With her diverse background working with a wide variety of clients, and proprietary computer programs she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Felicia is a Native Washingtonian and thrives on the vast environment of outdoor activities. During her seven years with the Navy Reserves she worked primarily with Hospitals and MASH units as a Patient Administration Specialist. With focuses on customer care, Felicia has spent most of her career working side by side with customers to meet their needs and expectations.
